The Rideau Canal is a chain of lakes and rivers travelling from Kingston to Ottawa. A National Historic Site, the Locks assist boats in navigation and are a natural attraction for visitors who can watch the locks in action. Lock 31 features a raised bascule bridge which was built in 1913. The rolling railway bridge was used until 1984.
